Mission:
Creative Yoga Retreats cultivate a safe, empowering and creative space in a beautiful natural setting, enabling us to open our hearts to loving awareness of ourselves, each other and our environment.
Our Pillars:
Our central pillars are yoga, art and connection -- all intertwined with nature.
The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to yoke,” or “to unite”. The practice aims to create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness. Yoga is love.
Art is life. Art is a pathway to exploring the human condition as innate creators. Art is an expression of nature, perceptions, emotions, questions and hardships. In a world of instant technology, we will create an inspiring space to slow down, create and notice the world around us and within us.
We need real human connection. We thrive through connection with others and with nature. Despite more opportunities to connect through technology, modern society has found itself in an epidemic of loneliness. Our retreats will create a non-judgemental space for each person to be seen, valued and heard. We use writing and storytelling to express our journeys, vulnerabilities and experiences.
Who is this for?
We are a welcoming and inclusive community. We welcome all genders, sexual orientations, race, class, ability/disability, ages and other identities and experiences. We ask all retreat participants to come with a loving and open heart.
Meet Your Retreat Leaders:
Mary Howze is a seasoned yoga practitioner and a fresh yoga instructor. She received her 200 hour with Powered By Heart Yoga. She teaches what she loves as a practitioner and offers yoga as a spiritual practice. Each class is crafted with intention and connected to an engaging playlist. Her goal is to create an experience that will be felt and remembered. Yoga has been a passion of hers for over 6 years and nothing brings her more joy and purpose than to share it with this community. She has taught regular classes, led yoga on festival stages, and hosted a handful of retreats. Outside of yoga, she loves travel, nature and music.
Jessica Mahan is a professional painter, teacher of art and yoga practitioner currently working on her 200 hour yoga instructor certification. She is in awe of the natural world. Nature has the ability to wake up her mind to the present moment, sparking ideas and insight. The resulting paintings are vivid, emotional, playful and dreamlike. Her art practice helps her slow down and notice the world around her by examining shapes, colors, movement rhythms and light. She often uses symbolism and thinks of her work as visual poetry. She previously taught art in the public school system for 7 years, has been a professional artist for 8 years and loves sharing her love of art with others. Outside of art, she loves travel, yoga, nature, music and hanging out with her dog.
